BAMBI

That gorl Bambi is a genderless and gendermore artist, a damn good storyteller, and the architect of haus of bambi. Oh, and also the 2022 recipient of the S&R Evermay Washington Award in dance, btw.

Bambi has been commissioned by Vogue, The John F. Kennedy Center, and The City of Alexandria and been presented in Boston at the Metal Hearts Cabaret and in New York City at Movement Research at Judson Church, wild project, Dixon Place, and Triskelion Arts. Bambi is also the runway movement director for New York couturier Bach Mai.

Bambi is an inaugural member of The Kennedy Center’s Dance Council and was a 2022-2024 artist-in-residence at Dance Place in DC.

BAMBI’S WORK

Bambi uses fantasy to tell the truth all with the deepest respect for irreverence and sticky dance floors. Bambi’s work catwalks the line between the gaudy and subdued; the crude and refined; the classical and contemporary.

In 2021, Bambi launched a free, gender-euphoric dance education series, Party & Prance (PnP), that partners with local bar, Trade, to bring dance class to queer safe spaces.

In 2022, Bambi began a social club, Club Haus, piloted with The Kennedy Center, to nurture a new, more diverse cohort of dance and theater lovers in DC.

In 2023, Bambi premiered The Bambi Show, a traveling cabaret and artist salon series featuring world-renowned guests and artists in DC.

BAMBI'S EDUCATION

Bambi learned to hate dance after training at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, The Boston Conservatory, The Rock School, Ballet Austin, Hubbard Street, and The School at Jacob’s Pillow. Bambi now promotes earnest joy accessed through movement in an attempt to undo the harm that concert dance training inflicts.

Bambi holds an MFA from the University of Michigan and teaches in Washington DC at American University, George Washington University and Dance Place.
